Will the federal government shut down after Friday 12/21? Late on 12/19, the U.S. Senate passed a short-term continuing resolution (CR) that would avert a shutdown. The House is expected to take up the bill on Thursday, 12/20, and if passed it will go to President Trump for his signature. This would provide funding through 2/8/19. This would also continue funding for the IRS and Treasury Dept. However, the bill doesn’t include $5 billion in funding that Trump wanted for a border wall, so it’s possible the House might not pass it or the President might veto it.
