Brett Rugen, CPA

Senior Manager

Brett joined SFW Partners in 2024. He has over 20 years of experience in tax compliance and consulting.  Most of his experience is in closely held entities and high net worth individuals.  Brett also has extensive experience with multistate taxation, as well as nonprofit reporting/taxation. Before joining SFW Partners, Brett was the managing director of tax at a local public accounting firm. Brett also has experience in industry, working a few years as a Tax Manager for a publicly traded company.   

Brett graduated cum laude in 2006 with a master’s degree in accountancy (Certificate in Taxation) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. 

Brett is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. 

Away from the office, Brett enjoys taking his kids to their soccer and volleyball games as well as playing softball and golf.
